The Durham Commission

The Durham Commission on Creativity and Education is a collaboration between Arts Council England and Durham University that aims to identify ways in which creativity, and specifically creative thinking, can play a larger part in the lives of young people from birth to the age of 25, both within and beyond the current education system.

The Commission hopes to find out what already works well and where there might be gaps that can be addressed.

Our head is one of the commissioners and the most recent meeting was held at the school. Of course the Art department couldn’t refrain from getting some recently painted art on the walls and creative show invites on the tables…

Art, Ultra-Red & Serpentine

Outside of the teaching school rooms are five pieces of textiles from the Art, Ultra-Red and Serpentine collaboration. These were exhibited in a Serpentine exhibition four years ago. The original panels sit with the textiles pieces as a reminder of the process.
