100 Years of votes for women, Pankhurst, and Jeanette Winterson…
In celebration and remembrance of 100 years of the suffrage movement gaining votes for women, some of our Year 9 students are involved in an etching project at the Brompton cemetery and Heatherleys print department. They are looking at images relating to Pankhurst and the suffragettes as the inspiration for their etchings.
Here is a link to the wonderful Jeanette Winterson’s ‘Richard Dimbleby’s Lecture’. 100 years on from the first women in the UK securing the right to vote, Jeanette asks what we can learn from the Suffragette movement of a century ago, as well as examining the longevity of recent global campaigns promoting the equality of women.
